Who doesn’t have credit card debt?

Where did the years go?

Where did the years go?

Well, I know several people who happen to not carry credit card debt and make it a habit to pay off their cards each month.  The common theme between them seems to be monthly budgeting.  They appear to not spend more than they make each month.  And that is really the secret to using cards.

But for those of you like me, we like to buy things.  And we go and buy the latest and greatest according to our whim.  We firmly believe we deserve this luxury.  We don’t have a budget.  We either just have money or we don’t.  When we do, we’re gadget happy.  When we can’t afford it is when there isn’t money left to spend.  Hey, we also pride ourselves on thrift when we don’t have anything to spend!

Well, I happen to know the effectiveness of goals in project management or in business.  But I don’t quite grasp the effectiveness of goals from a financial standpoint.  All I know is that I want more money.  My goal is to sit fat in a yacht in search of fun.  And I know I need more money to get there.  I don’t know exactly how much but just that it will be alot of money.  And thus my financial goal is to obtain alot of money.

So where am I with regards to status of completing this goal?  I have a couple hundred bucks but alot of toys.  I’ve had this goal for over 10 years now.  And I’ve probably made close to a million dollars if you add up my salary across the past 12 years.  What happened to the money?  What the heck is going on?

This blog is about the journey to my goals.  In the next few posts, I’m going to devise plans.  Test them, and continously compare and utilize only the winning plans.  A scientific approach using hypothesis to get out of the hole i’m in.  Read along and add your comments if you can relate to my situation.  Eager to hear from you all.  Let’s break out of this repetitive monotony of a life.
