Amex settles for $2500 on $34000…insane!

So after I talked to the last debt settlement company, I found this on the yellow pages.  Talked to the rep a couple of minutes and she gave me a run down on what she’d be able to do.  Matched me with 4 debt consultants and they each told me what they could do with the amex debt. Best offer was approximately paying off only less than 10% of the balance.  I went for it.  And amex signed off on it.  Just took a couple days.  They estimated that I’d be paid off on the card in like 2 years with low monthly payments of $120.   That totally beats the crazy monthly bill I had before.   Ok, time to tackle the next card!  I’m going to utilize a matching service next so that they can hook me up with the debt counselor for my citibank debt.

I guess they are hurting from the financial collapse.  Ken, over and out!

    How far behind were you on your payments? I didn’t know you can contact debt consolidators about just one card at a time.

    about 9 years behind, lol. I guess they about gave up on me.
